Health Information Coordinator, Nursing Department, Robert E. Barrow Treatment Center Facility Overview
Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) is the state’s only Class 1A facility and the only correctional facility providing custody and control of adult male inmates who have been sentenced to death. Why Work for DOC?

One year of experience in administrative services; OR One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute. Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the required general experience. Complete orders from Physicians, Nurses, Administrators and other members of Medical Staff regarding physical and electronic medical records. Review, scan, index, upload and attach paper records and documents into EHR while maintaining the security and confidentiality of all health information. Retrieve and update patient records upon request and maintain custody files for records removed from department. Perform all Medical Record functions involving physical (paper) health information records and Electronic Health Records (EHR). Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels – minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody. Position-Specific Details
Appointment Type : Probationary or Promotion of a Permanent, Classified Louisiana State Employee. Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, and a permanent position becomes available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. Career Progression Group : Health Information Coordinator 1, 2, or 3. Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant. Salary depends on level of experience. Minimum qualifications and salary ranges are provided in the State Civil Service document. Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career, not the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
