Job Description A Production Associate is responsible for the printing and packaging of North Texas's most dependable resource of news and information. This individual will coordinate activities in an industrial manufacturing environment. They must manage their own time to ensure that quotas and production requirements are met. Production knowledge of materials, production processes, and other techniques are expected in this position; examples include inserting, stacking, material handling, dollying, loading product on skids and trailers, and paper handling. This knowledge will ensure that the manufacturing and distribution of goods are efficient in accordance with company goals and generally accepted industry standards. The Dallas Morning News is seeking a reliable and experienced Press Operator to operate our Goss SSC single-wide, single-round press, equipped with MegTec zero‑speed splicers. This role supports the nightly production of our major metropolitan daily newspaper as well as several commercial print products for national publishers. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, relevant press experience, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the Goss SSC press and MegTec splicers according to nightly production plans
Manage ink flow and quality through Paretta ink control systems
Operate and monitor DCOS automation, including:
Auto density control
Auto color registration
Cutoff compensation
Perform press setups, adjustments, and monitor for print quality
Troubleshoot and resolve press and print‑related issues as they arise
Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment
Record press settings, run details, and maintenance logs accurately
Collaborate with the Shift Leader and press crew to meet nightly deadlines
Assist in training less experienced operators when needed

Help to develop/implement workflow‑enhancing processes.
General cleaning around warehouse.
Performs related duties as assigned which may not be specifically listed in the job description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level associated with the class of work.
Monitors overall productivity of production and makes recommendations to provide safer, faster, and easier processes.
