Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Sheetfed Press Operator
to operate our
KBA Rapida 164 large-format offset press , specializing in
package printing . This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality print production that meets strict
ISO ,
G7
and
GMI
color standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in handling a variety of packaging substrates and finishing techniques, and will play a critical role in maintaining color consistency and press efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and maintain the
KBA Rapida 164 sheetfed offset press
for
large-format package printing
(e.g., folding cartons, single face laminating corrugated).
Execute accurate and efficient
make-readies
including plate mounting, ink/coating adjustments, registration, and job presetting.
Handle
board stocks ,
coated/uncoated materials
and other specialty packaging substrates.
Ensure print quality aligns with
ISO 12647-2
standards and
G7 and GMI calibrated color targets
using inline and offline color control tools.
Perform inline inspections and adjust press settings to maintain consistent color, registration, and quality throughout the run.
Maintain accurate production documentation, including press logs, quality checks, and compliance records.
Communicate effectively with prepress, QA, finishing, and production teams to ensure smooth job flow and on-time delivery.
Follow all
Safety, GMP ,
ISO
and
SQF
protocols in a regulated packaging production environment.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs to maximize press uptime.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience
operating a
KBA Rapida 164
or similar large-format offset sheetfed press in a packaging environment.
Proficient in running complex packaging jobs with
multi-color setups ,
UV/aqueous coatings , and
specialty substrates .
Solid understanding of
ISO 12647-2 color management
and
G7 calibration practices .
Ability to interpret and implement
press-side color data
and make necessary ink/water/pressure adjustments.
Proficient with
automated press controls ,
inline quality control systems , and
CIP3/CIP4 workflows .
Strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Able to work overtime as required.
Physically able to lift
50 lbs
and perform tasks in a production environment.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
G7 Certified Press Operator
or experience working in a
G7 Master Qualified
print facility.
Familiarity with
ISO 9001
and
food-safe packaging standards .
Forklift or pallet jack certification.
Work Environment:
High-volume
packaging production facility
focused on quality and compliance.
Exposure to
inks ,
solvents ,
coatings , and
industrial noise .
Adherence to strict
color standards ,
regulatory requirements , and
safety procedures .
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Equivalent training, certifications, or experience for listed competencies
