The Food Production Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of commercial food production equipment within the commissary. This role ensures that equipment is used in accordance with food safety, quality, and production standards; follows sanitation protocols; and contributes to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate a variety of commercial-grade food processing and packaging equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, slicers, wrappers, kettles, fillers, sealers).
Start-up, operate, and shut down equipment per manufacturer and company safety guidelines.
Perform daily equipment checks; report malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to Maintenance or Supervisors.
Follow food safety and quality procedures including proper handling, labeling, and tracking of products.
Accurately complete production records and batch logs as required.
Monitor production runs for accuracy, portioning, and consistency.
Collaborate with Production and Sanitation to ensure changeovers and cleanups meet productivity and compliance standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization; comply with sanitation, GMP, and allergen control protocols.
Support efforts to reduce waste, improve throughput, and meet production goals.
Participate in safety training and adhere to PPE and lockout/tagout requirements.
May assist with basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments if trained and authorized.
Report any food safety, quality, or GMP concerns to Supervisors or FSQA immediately.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to workplace safety and product quality
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward learning
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in food manufacturing or industrial equipment operation preferred
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation
Ability to read and follow safety instructions, SOPs, and batch records
Food safety awareness and understanding of GMPs required
