Aluminum Finishing Production Operator – ELLWOOD Overview

We are seeking an experienced Aluminum Finishing Operator to join our growing team at ELLWOOD. The operator will use finishing equipment—including homogenizing furnaces, band saws, lathes, and more—to prepare aluminum products for shipping, ensuring they meet customer specifications and production schedules.

Shift & Pay

Choose a DAY (5 AM–5 PM) or NIGHT (5 PM–5 AM) shift with rotating schedules that include two 3‑day weekends off a month. Overtime is built into the schedule. Pay starts at $17.50/hr for no experience and may rise to $24.00/hr with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness and organization of finishing and ingot storage areas.

Receive and read instructions from supervisor and control room operator.

Load/unload homogenization furnaces, cooling chambers, saws, lathes, and other machinery.

Operate and monitor furnace and chamber controls.

Select appropriate feeds, speeds, and process parameters for cutting and machining.

Use forklift or overhead crane for material handling as needed.

Dispose of chips and scrap properly according to alloy.

Inspect quality during and after processes, documenting dimensions per SOP.

Report defective material or equipment issues immediately.

Mark and identify all processed material as required.

Communicate schedule status with control room operator.

Assist in workflow scheduling and staffing of the area.

Complete paperwork and enter data into the tracking system.

Perform basic maintenance inspections and keep equipment in good working order.

Check thermocouples, change as needed.

Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all safety regulations.

Maintain inventory of required supplies.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Pass a physical test and background screening.

Shifts may be any; willing to cross‑train on other equipment.

Physical effort includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Judgment and decision‑making to prevent errors and safety hazards.

Ability to read and interpret operating and maintenance instructions, manuals, and quality documents.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license if driving duties are required.

Complete Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs.
