Aluminum Finishing Production Operator

We are seeking a meticulous, safety-conscious professional with a passion for hands‑on work and a drive for quality in a fast‑paced environment. The Finishing Operator will prepare aluminum products for shipping, operate finishing equipment (homogenizing furnaces, cooling chambers, band saws, lathes, etc.), and ensure parts meet customer specifications while meeting production schedules.
Shift options:
Day (5 am–5 pm) or Night (5 pm–5 am). Rotating shift schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off. OT is built into the schedule and additional OT may be available.
Pay and benefits:
Starting at $17.50 /hr with no experience; up to $24.00 /hr with experience; training provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organize and maintain housekeeping of the finishing and ingot storage areas.
Receive instruction and necessary information from supervisor and control room operator, primarily working in a self‑directed environment.
Load and unload homogenization furnaces and cooling chamber in a timely manner, selecting appropriate processes.
Operate homogenization furnaces and cooling chamber; input and monitor information on controls.
Set up and operate saw(s) and lathe(s), selecting proper feeds and speeds.
Load and unload machines with the aid of a forklift or overhead crane, positioning material as required.
Unload equipment after processes and deliver material to the next area of operation.
Place material cropping and chips in scrap boxes according to alloy.
Inspect the quality of the material during and after processes to ensure pieces are in spec per customer requirements using approved methods and SOP.
Record material dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments and following SOP.
Report defective material and faulty equipment to the General Manager or Maintenance Department immediately.
Identify all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary identification when required as specified.
Maintain communication about product schedule with the control room operator.
Aid in scheduling workflow through area.
Complete paperwork and input information into the computer system to track products through process.
Perform basic maintenance inspections and care on machines; check and maintain all equipment in proper working condition.
Check thermocouples for proper operation and change as required.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment; abide by all plant safety regulations and work rules.
Maintain inventory of needed supplies to perform duties.
Minimum Requirements And Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
Pass minimal physical test and background screening.
Ability to work any shift.
Physical effort required includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lb.
Willingness to cross‑train.
Skills And Abilities
Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in solving them.
Judgment and decision‑making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results in job duties.
Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents.
Ability to work with others as a team.
Licenses or Certifications
Valid driver’s license if driving required.
Must successfully complete Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs.
Safety
