Job Description SAIC is seeking an Engineering Tech IV to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S)
– responsible for technical integration, operational advisory, and lifecycle support for Marine Corps Air Command and Control (C2) systems.
Responsibilities
System Configuration & Maintenance – set up, configure, operate, and maintain CAC2S hardware and software.
Tactical Data Link Management – establish and manage critical interfaces such as Link 16, Variable Message Format (VMF), and Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS).
Troubleshooting – resolve complex technical issues within Air C2 systems, associated networks, and tactical data links during test events or fleet operations.
Network Architecture – produce architecture diagrams defining system interfaces and configure virtualized server environments (e.g., VMware ESXi).
Operational & Advisory Duties – provide Marine Corps‑specific guidance during planning and execution of test and engineering events.
Mission Readiness – advise commanders and staff on the employment of tactical data link (TDL) systems and recommend changes to maintenance processes to improve readiness.
Documentation Review – author and provide technical feedback on test documentation, system requirements, and integration recommendations.
Liaison – coordinate with higher, adjacent, and subordinate commands, Program Management Offices, to ensure system interoperability.
Training & Simulation Curriculum Development – assist in creating training materials, job aids, and lesson plans for CAC2S operators.
Instruction – conduct onsite and virtual instruction to prepare Marines for system startup, diagnostics, and real‑world employment procedures.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma/GED and four or more years’ experience operating, testing, administering, or maintaining Air C2 systems such as CAC2S, or TBMCS.
Desired Experience:
USMC Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 5974, 5979, 7236, or 7242 background.
Working knowledge of one or more Military Standards (MIL-STD), e.g., Link‑16 (MILSTD‑6016), JREAP (MIL‑STD‑3011), and/or VMF (MIL‑STD‑6017).
Working knowledge of network administration and troubleshooting of Cisco routing and switching.
Experience administering VMware ESXi, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server Operating Systems.
Must be able to communicate in a team environment and engage in system fielding events with supporting personnel.
Effective verbal and written skills are essential, with ability to convey in proper sentence structure.
Must be able to work in a busy environment.
