Title: Grant Administrator Specialist

Salary: $66,539 - $99,320 / Posted Thru: 1/23/2026

Location: Remote/virtual - Must work and live in the state of Michigan

Purpose: This position helps administer programs and complete assignments in the Policy and Planning Bureau of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. It assists with responsibilities related to the Rural Health Transformation Program and manages all grants across the four initiatives, including overseeing the internal processes to launch Grant Funding Opportunities (GFOs), reviewing applications, awarding funding, and finalizing agreements with partner organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the work of the Rural Health Transformation Program.

Manage grant administration activities for the Rural Health Transformation Program.

Oversee internal process for Grant Funding Opportunities (GFOs), participate in application review, scoring, and funding decisions.

Manage multiple contracts and request amendments to ensure contracts align with federal requirements and program goals.

Initiate contracts, review financial statements, review reports, and follow up with contracted agencies where needed.

Monitor contract budget and collaborate with budget liaisons.

Serve as point of contact and provide technical assistance for several contracted agencies.

Ensure compliance with federal guidelines, reporting requirements and deliverables.

Maintain grant documentation, conduct risk assessments, audit and monitoring activities.

Draft correspondence and develop presentations.

Prepare various formal reports and/or briefings.

Present information to internal and external groups.

Other duties as assigned.

Always represent the best interest of MPHI and MDHHS.

Qualifications/Requirements: Education:

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience:

Four years of professional experience managing grants and contracts.

Important Skills and Characteristics:

Ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate a variety of data for use in program development and analysis.

Ability to organize, evaluate and present information effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to learn and utilize computer processes.

Ability to work well with others on a team, work independently, and multi-task within tight deadlines.

Knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint; Adobe Acrobat.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Position requires the use of a laptop. This position is occasionally required to transport a laptop, audiovisual equipment and brochures. May require some very limited travel.

Impact on Projects, Services and Operations: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS and helps administer programs and complete assignments in the Policy and Planning Bureau. The position assists with the Rural Health Transformation Program.

Communication: Responsible for communication with MDHHS Direct Manager (daily/as needed), MDHHS Program Staff (as needed), MDHHS Leadership (as needed), and External Partners (as needed). Responsibilities include taking assignments, training, feedback, reporting, gathering information, clarifying objectives, collaborating, answering inquiries, and gathering data.

For purposes of employment standards, this classification is "Exempt" from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
