Allen Control Systems
Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting‑edge defense startup founded by two former Navy electrical engineers. We are developing a small, autonomous gun turret that uses advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely target and neutralize small drones and loitering munitions. Our innovative approach requires overcoming significant technical challenges, making this an exciting and dynamic environment for experienced engineers.
With an engineering‑first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders’ successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop will have a real‑world impact.
Allen Control Systems is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to support prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, safety‑conscious, and eager to contribute to innovative production processes in a fast‑paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other multi‑axis machines to manufacture complex parts according to engineering drawings and blueprints.
Program CNC machines using G‑code, CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360), or manual programming for prototypes and production runs.
Read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T, to ensure parts meet precise tolerances.
Perform routine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting on machines to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) and document quality results for compliance.
Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality teams to refine processes, reduce waste, and improve cycle times.
Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, and maintain a clean, organized workspace in line with lean manufacturing principles.
What You’ll Need:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a CNC machining apprenticeship or vocational program preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of CNC mill and lathe programming experience.
Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation of mills and lathes.
Proficiency with inspection tools and reading technical documents.
Proficiency in CAM programming and operation, as well as reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and GD&T standards.
Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
What We Offer:
ACS Equity Package
Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
Paid Time Off
