About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development to lead the fundraising program for the Department of Ophthalmology. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, developing and implementing high-level fundraising strategies, and working closely with departmental leadership to define fundraising priorities. This role involves cultivating relationships with donors, serving as a primary liaison to faculty and staff, and overseeing donor cultivation and stewardship activities. The Executive Director will also be involved in managing the Department's annual fund program, strategic events, and will supervise a Development Associate.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of related experience, with a preference for a Master's degree. The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical abilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in development fundraising, particularly in a healthcare environment, and be adept at working with major gift solicitations. Management and administrative skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. The position demands a high level of confidentiality, the ability to make independent decisions, and a commitment to the mission of the Department of Ophthalmology.
