About the Role
The Company is seeking an AVP, Accounting Policy to join its dynamic finance organization. The successful candidate will be a key player in the firm's ongoing transformation, serving as the primary technical accounting authority and leading the research, interpretation, and application of current and emerging accounting guidance. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. Statutory accounting, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and will involve providing leadership on complex accounting matters, new transactions, and the implementation of new accounting standards. The AVP will also be responsible for supporting the preparation and review of financial statements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and representing the organization in external industry forums.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, a CPA designation, and at least 7 years' of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for those with a background in technical accounting or accounting policy. Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP technical accounting, including specific ASC codes, and strong knowledge of U.S. Statutory accounting is essential. The role requires a proactive, self-directed professional with excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, who can build effective relationships across finance and business teams. Experience in life insurance and reinsurance accounting, as well as a background in Big Four public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience, is also necessary.
