About the Role
The Vice President - Data Scientist will be responsible for executing advanced quantitative models and machine learning solutions to support mortgage forecasting, prepayment and default risk analysis, and predictive insights that inform trading strategy and risk decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with trading, research, risk, and technology teams to integrate analytical outputs into business workflows, explore new and alternative data sources, and drive innovative approaches that enhance model performance and business outcomes. You will maintain robust model governance and performance monitoring to ensure accuracy, reliability and compliance with industry standards, mentor junior quantitative staff, and provide thought leadership on data science methodologies and best practices within the analytics team.
Applicants should hold an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field, with substantial experience applying AI/ML techniques to real-world modeling problems, preferably in mortgage finance, structured products or related financial markets. Strong expertise in Python programming, handling large and complex datasets, and developing predictive analytics is essential, along with a solid understanding of fixed-income instruments and mortgage-related risk drivers. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and to translate complex technical concepts into actionable intelligence that drives business decisions.
