About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to join their team. This pivotal role involves a combination of regulatory advisory responsibilities and legal support for various operational departments. The successful candidate will be a key liaison with federal and state banking regulators, providing legal counsel on a wide range of regulatory and transactional matters. Additionally, the General Counsel will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and business units, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and supporting the company's overall business strategy.

Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, be an active member in good standing with a state bar, and have a minimum of 7-10 years of legal experience in a financial institution, major law firm, or U.S. banking regulator. The role requires a strong understanding of federal banking laws and regulations, as well as experience in commercial and consumer loan and deposit documentation, secured transactions, and regulatory compliance. Experience with privacy, cybersecurity, payments, wealth management, and/or fintech is a plus. The General Counsel will also be involved in litigation, court proceedings, and various legal issues, and must be adept at managing relationships with outside counsel.
