About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to join their team. This pivotal role involves a combination of regulatory advisory responsibilities and legal support for various operational departments. The successful candidate will be a key liaison with federal and state banking regulators, providing legal counsel on a wide range of regulatory and transactional matters. Additionally, the General Counsel will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and business units, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and supporting the company's strategic initiatives.
Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, be an active member in good standing with a state bar, and have a minimum of 7-10 years of legal experience in a financial institution, major law firm, or U.S. banking regulator. The role requires a strong understanding of commercial and consumer loan and deposit documentation, secured transactions, and regulatory compliance. Experience with federal banking laws and regulations, as well as exposure to federal banking agencies, is essential. The ideal candidate will also have experience in areas such as privacy, cybersecurity, payments, wealth management, and/or fintech. Responsibilities include managing relationships with regulatory bodies, providing legal guidance on a variety of matters, and supporting the company's operations and strategic initiatives.
