Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a fully licensed Special Education Teacher under the New Mexico Department of Education to support high school students in grades 11 and 12. This contract position is for the 2026 semester and requires an in-person presence in Chama, NM. The role focuses on delivering tailored educational services to a caseload that includes four students with moderate to profound Autism and Intellectual Disabilities, as well as one student who is non-verbal, deaf-blind, and has motor impairments. Paraprofessional support is provided to assist with students who require additional care. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for high school students with diverse special education needs. Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure effective classroom support for students with higher needs. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet their unique learning requirements. Maintain clear communication with families and school staff regarding student development and accommodations. Uphold compliance with state and district special education guidelines. Desired Qualifications: Full licensure as a Special Education Teacher through the New Mexico Department of Education. Experience working with students who have Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and sensory impairments. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented educational environment.
