Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join a specialty retail pharmacy on a contract basis, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent role. This position primarily supports patients with complex medication regimens, often managing 8 to 15 medications daily, requiring a strong knowledge of commonly prescribed retail drugs and excellent patient communication skills. Location: Greensburg, PA Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. no weekends. Key Responsibilities: Accurately prepare and dispense medications using Pioneer Rx software (training available if needed). Engage compassionately with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients, many with low literacy, focused on chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. Provide thorough patient counseling and support, ensuring clarity and understanding of complex medication regimens. Collaborate closely with pharmacists and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Experience in retail or specialty pharmacy settings, especially handling chronic disease patients, is highly preferred. Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work patiently with complex patient populations. Knowledge of the top 200-400 retail medications. Current registration with the PA Board of Pharmacy is required. National certification (PTCB) is highly preferred but not mandatory.
