Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a knowledgeable Pharmacy Technician for a contract opportunity based in Irwin, PA. This role focuses on supporting a patient population with complex medication regimens, primarily consisting of individuals managing multiple chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. Strong communication skills and patience when interacting with patients are essential, particularly when working with Medicare/Medicaid recipients who may have low health literacy. Responsibilities: Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately Manage prescription processing using specialized software (Pioneer Rx experience preferred, training available) Communicate effectively with patients managing complex chronic conditions, ensuring understanding and adherence to medication regimens Handle specialty medications with care and attention to detail Maintain compliance with PA Board of Pharmacy regulations and store policies Qualifications and Desired Experience: Experience as a retail pharmacy technician, with specialty pharmacy experience highly preferred Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with patients suffering from chronic illnesses Familiarity with managing top 200-400 prescribed drugs in a retail setting Registered with the PA Board of Pharmacy; national certification (PTCB) highly preferred but not required Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break This is a contract assignment with potential for conversion to permanent employment based on performance, starting as soon as possible and lasting approximately 13 weeks.
