Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired serving K-12 students in an itinerant capacity within multiple districts near Houston, TX. This contract position provides specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across various schools with flexible full-time or part-time hours. Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored educational services to visually impaired students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. Conduct assessments and develop individualized learning plans aligned with each student's needs. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support. Utilize assistive technology and adapted materials to enhance accessibility and learning outcomes. Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with state and district guidelines. Participate in ongoing professional development and adhere to district policies and procedures. Qualifications and Experience: Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification for the state of Texas. Experience working with K-12 visually impaired students in school environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Ability to work effectively in an itinerant role across multiple school districts. Flexibility to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) Monday through Friday, with part-time arrangements considered. Location: Houston, TX area (Northwest / City Center) Benefits and Perks: Contract length through May 26, 2026, with a start date as soon as possible.
