Overview LabConnect improves lives by partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and clinical research organizations (CROs) to accelerate the development of new medicines around the world.

We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.

The Business DevelopmentDirectoris involved in strategic marketing and operations planning with executives, settingobjectivesandidentifyingmethods to reach those goals. This position must be keenly aware of organizational growth initiatives related to regional markets and target customer segments.

This is a fully remote position with approximately 30% travel required for business needs.

Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities

Identifiestrendsetterideasbyresearchingindustryandrelatedevents,publications, andannouncements;trackingindividualcontributorsandtheiraccomplishments.

Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.

Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venturewith company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.

Screenpotential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.

Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.

Updates job knowledge by participatingin educational opportunities; reading professional publications;maintainingpersonal networks; participatingin professional organizations.

Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership foraccomplishingnew and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Once newbusiness has been secured, the business development director works with other department heads and staff to coordinate account startup and transition service.

Delivering presentations, conducting seminars, and participatingin meetings with clients, externalvendorsor advisors.

Education/Experience ABachelor’s Degreeisrequiredwith a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior management position. AsaBusiness DevelopmentDirector, this individual mustdemonstratecritical competencies in four broad categories: commitment to results, business savvy,leading change, and motivating as well asrelated laboratory experience or experience in the clinical trial industry and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate mustpossessexcellence in organization, communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.The position requiresdemonstratedexperience in integrating and coordinating diverse areas of management.

Language Ability Mustpossessthe ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.The ability towritereports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is needed.The ability to effectively present information andrespondsto questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and thegeneral publicis also necessary.

Math Ability The ability toassessrisk using financial,statisticaland economic data -calculatefigures, amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume are helpful.Also,the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry are preferred.

Reasoning Ability Handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously, and makes rapid decisionsregardingadministrative and executive issues.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should haveadvancedknowledge of Microsoft Office applications,word processingsoftware;financesoftware;spreadsheetsoftwareand database software.

Supervisory Responsibilities This positionhas somesupervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
