Position Overview We are seeking experienced and dynamic School-Based Behavior Consultants that hold a current certification of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or who are preparing to sit for the exam, to provide contracted services to identified school districts around the Chicago suburbs and surrounding areas. The Behavior Consultant will support school teams through direct consultation, conduct behavioral assessments, develop and monitor intervention plans, coach classroom staff, and deliver professional development. This is a flexible hybrid position, with remote/work-from-home one day a week and in-person school site visits required throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities Assessment & Intervention
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), classroom observations, and records reviews
Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) using data-driven practices
Support implementation of BIPs and monitor progress across school environments
Provide recommendations aligned with school-wide and student-specific behavioral goals
Coaching & Consultation
Collaborate with classroom teams to model and coach evidence-based behavior strategies
Build teacher and staff capacity to implement proactive classroom management practices
Facilitate data collection and use of data to inform instructional and behavioral decisions
Participate in team meetings (e.g., IEP, MTSS, problem-solving) as needed
Professional Development
Design and deliver customized professional development workshops and trainings
Lead PD sessions on classroom behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and classroom management strategies
Provide follow-up coaching and fidelity checks to support training implementation
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, School Psychology, Social Work, or related field
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or preparing to sit for boards
Minimum 3 years of experience in a school setting providing behavior consultation
Strong knowledge of behavioral principles, data collection, and intervention planning
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel across assigned regions of the Chicago area and state of Illinois
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments
Preferred Skills
Experience with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and building evidence based Behavior Intervention Plans
Experience with staff coaching and training
Familiarity with trauma-informed and restorative practices
Knowledge of special education regulations and IEP process
Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Compensation & Schedule
Competitive hourly or daily rate based on experience and credentialing – starting at $75/hour
Flexible schedule; assignments vary by district need and availability
Contractors are responsible for their own travel and insurance
