What Your Job Will Be Like The Special Programs group is looking for talented managers (Manager, Information Systems Engineering) experienced with Information Technology (IT) systems, communication systems, situational awareness systems, project management, and real‑world operations. Special Programs provides a range of communications and cross‑domain situational awareness services in support of various National security missions. The work portfolio includes development activities as well as 24x7x365 operations. The group is primarily funded through proposals to external agencies and supports multiple US government agencies in meeting critical national security needs.
Support the deployment and execution of software, user interface, and situational awareness capabilities
Support real‑world, 24x7x365 operations
Interact with cross‑domain solutions
Deploy and manage cutting‑edge Information Technology (IT) systems
Harden and accredit IT systems
Managers will be accountable for
Meeting customer expectations regarding technical performance, cost, and schedule
Foster an environment that encourages teamwork, growth, and commitment to technical excellence
Manage the day‑to‑day operations, technical, and administrative responsibilities of the department
Coordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, assignments, compensation, recognition, and disciplinary actions
Ensure project execution by managing project level budgets, staffing, and work assignments, while addressing performance gaps
Maintain oversight of security and need‑to‑know management procedures
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time in CA.

Ability and wiliness to travel up to 25% of time, as required.
Salary Range $194,900 - $331,000
Qualifications We Require
A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and eight (8) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
Active DOE Q-level security clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI level security clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
Qualifications We Desire
Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
An undergraduate technical degree and at least a master's degree.
Outstanding interpersonal skills in developing trusting relationships with peers, staff, management, customers, and stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the development and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports and documentation.
Experience working in a classified environment.
Demonstrated leadership and teaming in a complex and fast paced environment.
Previous software engineering experience in a product delivery or production environment.
Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values.
Ability to create trust‑based relationships to ensure customer needs are satisfied.
Experience working with DOE and OGA customers and communities.
Current SCI clearance.
About Our Team Special Programs, within the National Security Products center (8400), is a group primarily funded through proposals to external agencies and supports multiple US government agencies in meeting critical national security needs. The technology that Special Programs develops, spans a variety of networks and platforms, providing 24/7 situational awareness for national security. Key enabling technologies support our Data Dissemination and Cross‑Domain Solution subject matter expertise.

Security Clearance Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre‑employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
