Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Paralegal to join our dynamic team in our
Birmingham, AL
office. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workers’ compensation defense litigation, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage defense litigation files from intake through resolution.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and settlement documents.
Coordinate independent medical examinations (IMEs), vocational evaluations, and surveillance reports.
Communicate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and opposing counsel.
Prepare exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders for hearings and mediations.
E-file documents with state workers’ compensation boards and courts.
Track deadlines and maintain accurate case calendars.
Qualifications
Paralegal certificate or associate degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in workers’ compensation defense or insurance defense litigation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems (Caret Legal preferred).
Strong knowledge of state workers’ compensation statutes and defense litigation procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
