Desktop Support Technician
On-Site | Full-Time | Intermediate Level
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to provide on-site technical support for a high-visibility location with more than 200 users. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while supporting employees at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with workstation setup, device imaging, hardware repair, and end-user support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site support for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, including configuration, imaging, troubleshooting, and hardware repair.
Support a large user base in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, ensuring reliable daily operations.
Manage user accounts and access settings, including profile updates and security changes.
Diagnose and resolve operating system and application issues.
Document and track support requests in a ticketing system while meeting established service levels.
Deliver professional, customer-focused support to all levels of the organization, including leadership.
Escalate complex issues appropriately and collaborate with technical teams to ensure timely resolution.
Maintain clear communication, accurate documentation, and consistent follow-through on all assigned tasks.
Perform physical support tasks such as lifting equipment (up to 30 lbs) and installing hardware on-site.
Work independently while following established procedures, policies, and service expectations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
Approximately 3 years of IT support or desktop support experience.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to work on-site full-time and support a large, diverse user base.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform hands-on technical tasks.
Technical certifications are a plus.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbia, SC.
Pay and Benefits $25.00 – $27.00/hr.
