Position Information The purpose of the position is to perform highly skilled technical work in broad scale systems analysis, design, and management for major installations and/or support systems. Employees in this classification possess in-depth knowledge of integrated technologies, supporting major system applications, infrastructure and function as technical expert of supported systems.
Responsible for managing enterprise physical security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, and door hardware. The role involves overseeing system design, coordinating with vendors, and working with departments to address security needs. Project management experience and a basic understanding of system networking configurations are preferred.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 4 PM
Essential Functions
Receives, prioritizes, and responds to staff, end user, and department requests for troubleshooting, maintenance, and resolution concerning major and integrated systems assigned to functional areas.
Provides project management and leadership for major system installations, upgrades, or modifications; may require management of multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines and goals.
Provides advisement and consultation with management regarding overall architectural vision, problem anticipation, and enterprise‑level problem solving.
Functions as senior technician ensuring proper integration of new and existing systems across multiple platforms and critical legacy systems, including network and server administration where applicable.
Designs system specifications, documents all hardware and network architecture and configurations, and develops specifications for building infrastructure modifications.
Identifies systems requirements according to end‑user needs; configures appropriate solutions using current technologies, scripting protocols, and platforms; includes testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and applications support.
Researches current trends and developments relevant to supported systems; identifies opportunities for new solutions or enhancements to improve operational or functional efficiency.
Identifies when systems applications, servers, hardware, or components are near the end of expected life‑cycles and recommends new technologies accordingly.
Develops requests for proposals, quotes, and information for technology projects and systems, detailing specifications, minimum standards, desired outcomes, and timelines.
Communicates with hardware/software/technology vendors; provides information on operational or system problems, new products, and other issues; acts in a consultative role regarding new policies.
Works collaboratively with information services professionals to integrate other discipline components, standards, and protocols as required, e.g., security administration, database administration, server administration, automated electronic systems, data communications, and network infrastructure.
Maintains awareness of new products, technologies, trends, and advances; reads professional publications and attends user group meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Technology, or related field required; supplemented by five years progressively knowledgeable experience in designing, developing, and implementing information systems and infrastructure solutions, including technology‑based project management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Skills: Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage projects, including scheduling, product sourcing, and process optimization.
Vendor Management: Experience leading teams and collaborating with vendors to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
Technical Troubleshooting: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving issues with mechanical operations, electronics, and wired/wireless networks.
Networking and System Configuration: Hands‑on experience installing and certifying network infrastructure and configuring integrated security systems.
Communication and Problem‑Solving: Effective verbal and virtual communication skills, coupled with strong analytical and research abilities.
Industry Tools and Platforms: Experience with systems such as Avigilon ACC/ACM; Software House C‑Cure, Vicon Cameras, Blackcreek Physical Security Systems; educational background in Electrical Engineering Technology and Business.
Licenses and Certifications Possession of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification is preferred.
Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, possibly involving lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials of light weight (5–10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
