Positions Overview AECOM is seeking an

Architect

and a

Senior Structural Engineer

to serve in various locations across the south and east United States.

Architect – Buildings + Places Practice

Base location options: Columbia, SC; Greenville, SC; Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC.

Work with interdisciplinary teams on medium‑to‑large design‑driven projects across multiple industries.

Hybrid work options with the flexibility to work from an AECOM office, remote location, or client site.

Responsibilities

Perform architectural tasks, specifications, reports, and related data tables.

Work on specific portions of a broader assignment for an experienced Architect.

Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required.

Conduct interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and identify discrepancies.

Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities.

Collaborate on reports, studies, drawings, and design narratives with other professional staff.

Assist in training and mentoring Junior architectural and design/drafting personnel.

Work in an office setting with potential meetings and site visits where a project may be located.

Assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture + 4 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).

Licensed as a Registered Architect (NCARB) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred: Experience with Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam or other PDF design software; proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong writing and verbal communication skills; detail‑oriented with follow‑through; ability to work independently and in large groups; passion for design and continuous learning.

Senior Structural Engineer – Buildings + Places Practice

Base location: Atlanta, GA (hybrid basis). Relocation assistance available.

Focus on structural design of buildings and facilities across varied sectors.

Responsibilities

Serve as lead project structural engineer on a variety of building types and construction methodologies.

Provide technical input to studies and structural design, including specialized areas of expertise.

Train and share knowledge with junior staff on technical design aspects of structural design, constructability, and suitable methodologies.

Communicate and present complex technical solutions to clients.

Conduct site visits for construction progress.

Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others and sign off on deliverables.

Participate in development of technical proposals (including estimates for engineering budget and schedule).

Review permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations; review client design standards for compliance.

Work independently and under supervision of the Department Manager/Project Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (accredited) + 6 years of relevant experience (or equivalent).

Registered Professional Engineer (PE in Structural Engineering).

U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred: Recent experience with Buildings and Facilities design projects; recent use of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM Elements, or RISA; AutoCAD and Revit experience is highly desirable; 10 + years of experience on large, complex projects; hybrid work model requiring two days per week in the AECOM office.

Compensation

Architect: $85,000 – $125,000 USD annually.

Senior Structural Engineer: $120,000 – $155,000 USD annually.

Additional Information

No relocation assistance for the Architect position.

No sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization for either position.
