Job Overview National Electrical Engineering Consultants LLC is hiring experienced Substation Leads to take command of field operations across our commercial and utility-scale projects. This leadership role requires a highly skilled electrician with deep technical knowledge and proven experience managing crews, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring substation builds are executed safely, on schedule, and to spec. Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, on-site leadership for substation projects from mobilization to completion
Supervise and mentor field electricians and subcontractors
Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and specifications with expert-level proficiency
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of substation components
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards
Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on timelines and milestones
Monitor quality control, track productivity, and proactively resolve issues to avoid project delays
Document daily progress, safety reports, and time records
Enforce jobsite discipline and safety culture; lead weekly safety meetings
Manage tools, equipment, and inventory control at the project site
Represent NEEC with professionalism and technical authority in the field
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in substation construction, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Deep understanding of substation components including switchgear, breakers, regulators, wiring, transformers, and grounding systems
Strong safety knowledge and leadership
Strong team management and communication skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical plans and construction drawings
High accountability for quality, safety, and schedule performance
Must be highly reliable, detail-oriented, and self-directed
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Willingness to travel 100% and work long hours in the field
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 30 Certification
Experience managing electrical utility crews
Familiarity with utility provider standards and substation commissioning
Paid overtime
401(k) with 6% Company Match
8 Paid Holidays
2 Weeks Paid Vacation (prorated first year)
Weekly pay
Company-paid lodging and per diem while traveling
