National Electrical Engineering Consultants LLC is seeking experienced Traveling Substation Technician to join our Field Operations team. This is a high‑travel role, with teams rotating on a 3‑weeks‑on, 1‑week‑off schedule across various commercial and utility‑scale job sites nationwide. Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems within utility substations

Responsible for crew safety and personal safety

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams

Perform testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on electrical equipment

Work on power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, grounding systems, and control wiring

Follow all OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company‑specific safety protocols

Maintain documentation for daily work, inspections, and reports

Communicate effectively with foremen, engineers, and project managers

Support the successful completion of time‑sensitive, field‑based construction projects

Assist with mobilizing tools and materials to and from job sites

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in substation or utility‑related work

Strong safety knowledge and leadership

Proven ability to read and understand electrical plans and wiring schematics

Familiarity with substation equipment, including breakers, relays, and control wiring

Strong knowledge of electrical safety protocols and PPE use

Willingness to travel nationwide (100% travel required)

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Ability to work long hours and overtime, including weekends as needed

Must be dependable, team‑oriented, and safety‑focused

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with commercial utility providers or EPC contractors

OSHA 10 or 30 Certification

Paid overtime

Schedule

Full‑time

Home base or project rotation determined by current contracts
