Overview The Plating Technician I operates assigned equipment to perform metal finishing operations in accordance with established procedures. This role supports production through hands‑on processing of parts while maintaining quality, safety, and cleanliness standards on third shift.

Job Specifications Job Summary Operate equipment used in executing metal finishing processes, ensuring parts are processed accurately and meet quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

Load and unload tote pans of parts and stack parts in baskets, racks, and/or barrels.

Rack, unrack, clean, etch, desmut, pickle, bright dip, dye, degrease, heat treat, plate, coat, wet process, and dry parts as required.

Use electric hoists and perform manual lifting.

Follow prescribed processing procedures.

Fill baskets, racks, and/or barrels with parts and lower materials into appropriate tanks.

Remove parts when processing cycles are complete.

Maintain cleanliness of tanks and work areas.

Monitor solution temperatures.

Maintain daily production logs.

Visually inspect processing to ensure product quality.Perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance, and record keeping as needed.

Troubleshoot simple to moderate processing issues as required.

Maintain responsibility for the quality of products produced.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively with other employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions. Ability to resolve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Basic understanding of chemistry as it applies to metal finishing operations. Ability to troubleshoot and solve processing‑related problems.

Physical Requirements:

Regular standing and reaching with hands and arms. Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, or hearing. Regular lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Required to wear steel or composite toe safety shoes and long sleeves.
