RN Night Shift Join to apply for the RN Night Shift role at Specialists Hospital Shreveport. This is a night shift position and the RN will be responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will care for orthopedic surgical patients after recovery until discharge or transition to the next level of care, collaborate with other disciplines, and maintain a nursing ratio of 4:1. Family oriented facility.

Physical Requirements The position requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and at times running. Lifting more than 50 pounds will require assistance. The RN must be able to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment on supports, push beds throughout the hospital, perform external cardiac compressions, and maneuver throughout halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Visual and auditory skills are required for interpretation of environmental input. During evacuations, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety.

Essential Functions

Direct and supervise less skilled nursing/health care personnel or supervise a particular unit on one shift.

Admit patients to unit after surgery and recovery period complete. Formulate, implement, and carry out a plan of care for post‑surgical patients while on the patient care unit.

Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.

Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.

Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.

Administer medications/treatments as per physician's orders.

Assess the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities, including assessment of individuals' home and/or work environments to identify potential health or safety problems.

Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues and concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.

Engage in infection control programs, risk programs, and other hospital‑related committees when asked to do so.

Instruct individuals, families, and other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, discharge teaching, and preparing patients for transition of care at discharge from the hospital.

Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

Prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies, and ensure that the stock of supplies is maintained.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

License, Certificate, or Registration:

Current LA State Licensure or Multi‑State Licensure.

BLS Required.

ACLS Required.

Must have an unencumbered license and be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and physical.
