Position Overview:
The West Virginia Veterans Home is seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Maintenance Mechanic to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring the facility is safe, functional, and well‑maintained. This position involves both skilled and semi‑skilled work across various trades and responsibilities.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and maintain walls, ceilings, floors, steps, doors, frames, and plaster.
Perform painting tasks as required.
Install, repair, or replace lighting fixtures and ceiling tiles.
Maintain plumbing systems, including repair and replacement of fixtures and components.
Conduct inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs on necessary equipment.
Furniture assembly, movement, and the loading/unloading of supplies.
Complete masonry projects.
Maintain exterior grounds, including grass cutting, snow removal, and general landscaping.
Remove trash and ensure cleanliness throughout the property.
Transport residents to medical appointments, as needed.
Collaborate effectively with team members and other staff to meet operational goals.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the facility’s ongoing needs.
