We are seeking a highly skilled NETA III Electrical Testing Technician to join a leading electrical testing and maintenance services provider. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands‑on experience with high, medium, and low‑voltage systems, ensuring the safe and reliable performance of electrical equipment across a variety of client sites. This role is best suited for professionals who excel in technical diagnostics, field testing, and team leadership, while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Testing & Diagnostics: Perform advanced testing on electrical equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, PTs, CTs, and cables. Utilize specialized testing equipment such as Doble power factor test sets, low resistance ohmmeters, VLF test sets, insulation resistance testers, CT ratio/saturation devices, DC hi‑pot testers, TTR instruments, and primary/secondary injection tools.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify, analyze, and resolve electrical issues using schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams, and engineering input. Recommend and oversee repairs or replacements to ensure optimal system performance.
Maintenance & Compliance: Inspect, clean, and maintain electrical equipment in compliance with industry and NETA standards. Conduct risk assessments and enforce OSHA and company safety protocols.
Project Management & Leadership: Oversee field service projects, ensuring on‑time and within‑scope delivery. Mentor junior technicians and support their technical growth. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to align project execution with client needs.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of test results, inspections, and service activities. Prepare detailed reports to ensure client transparency and compliance.
Requirements
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field (or equivalent military/field experience).
NETA Level III Certification (required); NETA Level IV preferred.
5–7+ years of electrical testing and maintenance experience (480V–750kV).
Strong knowledge of switchgear, transformers, motors, PTs, CTs, and protective relays.
Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Proven leadership skills with ability to mentor junior staff.
Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
Physical ability to climb ladders, work in field conditions, stand for long periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
Valid driver's license with clean record.
Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and physical/respiratory fit test.
Flexibility to work overtime when required.
Open to relocate or work from nearby locations.
