Salary: $48,684.00 – $73,188.00 annually. ($4,057.00 – $6,099.00 monthly).

Qualifications Education and Experience:

Minimum of a high school graduation and current certification accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications for Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Be eligible for a favorable security clearance, as required.

Pass an NFPA 1582 Occupational Health physical exam per TIG or DODM 6055.5, and a physical fitness & agility exam.

Be willing and eligible to complete required Air National Guard Fire Protection Program certifications.

Obtain within one year any of the following certifications (Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator ARFF, Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply, Driver/Operator Aerial – if applicable, National Registry Emergency Medical Responder, and Public Telecommunicator I/II).

Overview Entry‑level firefighter responsible for fighting fires at an Air National Guard base. Works a 56‑hour week with 24‑ or 48‑hour shifts or other incremental shift work to meet mission requirements.

May be exposed to extreme temperatures, toxic fumes, biological and non‑biological hazards, and required to perform unsanitary and physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 185 pounds and climbing six floors of stairs while wearing PPE and carrying up to 40 pounds of equipment.

Responsibilities

Inspect equipment, structures, and materials; conduct routine building inspection, cleaning, and fire prevention duties per NFPA standards.

Perform firefighting tasks on aircraft, facilities, equipment; conduct rescue operations (vehicle extrication, confined space, high/low angle, hazardous material incidents at HazMat Operations level). Operate airport rescue firefighting and structural apparatus in non‑emergency or emergency mode.

Maintain tools, equipment, and apparatus per NFPA standards.

Operate fire communication center duties: telephones, radios, computers, building fire alarm systems.

Provide medical assistance at minimum Emergency Medical Responder level.

Teach classes as outlined in the annual training plan within qualifications.

Perform special assignments/projects as directed by supervisor.

A valid driver’s license.

No driving violations in the past five years (including DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations).
