Job Summary:
The Operator-Maintenance Mechanic may be assigned to perform any responsibility within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.
Qualifications and Requirements
The Operator-Maintenance Mechanic II must possess working knowledge of all facets of water treatment operations including hydraulic, chemical, and electrical equipment and processes, and a thorough understanding of the distribution system network to ensure safe, reliable, efficient operation.
Must know Company policies, procedures, safety practices, state, and federal regulations including TCPA and OSHA, and become a certified Emergency Responder Technician.
Must be able to operate equipment and vehicles and possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
Must have a T-1 or W-1 License, pass a qualification examination, and attain a T-2 License per State of New Jersey criteria.
Must pass initial and annual TCPA and OSHA medical examinations and meet physical requirements for the role.
Scope of Responsibilities
Perform job tasks, activities, and responsibilities of Systems Operator and Operator-Maintenance Mechanic I.
Assist or perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities: chemical pump cleaning, piping repairs and modifications, cleaning and painting, machinery lubrication, pump adjustment, equipment analysis and data collection, vibration, temperature, electrical readings, analytical water testing equipment.
Assist in all phases of production facilities’ operation, as required.
May work all or part of scheduled hours at any production facility.
Experience / Education
Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
Advancement
Can advance to System Operator when a vacancy is posted and qualifications met.
Operational Schedule
Work rotating 12‑hour shifts, 4 weeks of 36 hours, 4 weeks of 48 hours per 8‑week period.
Shift hours: 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.
Notification Requirements
Schedule changes with 8 hours’ notice in emergencies or unexpected vacancy.
30 days’ notice for all other schedule changes.
