Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative personnel to support the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. You will be employed by AIS, but will receive day‑to‑day direction and assignments from Y‑12 staff.
Responsibilities
Provide CNS Mission Engineering with full‑time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Category 2 and Category 3 facilities.
Prepare design output documentation to support minor facility modifications, including drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
Develop designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to produce timely design output.
Highlight experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment (desirable).
Understand Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
Be willing to perform field walk‑downs and work in a production environment.
Qualifications
ABET‑accredited BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant professional experience, or an MS degree with 10+ years of experience.
Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
Pre‑employment drug screen required for external applicants and post‑offer verification.
Medical examinations may be required.
Position may require ongoing random drug testing as part of a Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
