The Medical Laboratory Technician I position is designed for a newly ASCP certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or an individual with appropriate training and experience qualified to perform high‑complexity testing under CLIA 42 CFR 493.1489. The individual is responsible for day‑to‑day biological specimen processing, analysis, and results reporting, as well as maintaining laboratory equipment and addressing client concerns.
Responsibilities
Receives and processes specimens according to department protocols.
Assists the Supervisor, Manager and Director with administrative functions such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
Produces, interprets and reports accurate and precise test results.
Identifies and corrects problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting of patient samples.
Communicates pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or another appropriate individual.
Performs instrument maintenance and method troubleshooting.
Validates new methods.
Handles CAP surveys.
Assists in documentation and maintains effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
Performs within the productivity expectations as set forth by current departmental guidelines.
Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate Policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
Addresses Client Concerns.
