Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Healthcare

Registered Nurse (RN)
to deliver quality care to residents of the Mendocino County Jail. Salary: $57–$60 per hour.
Responsibilities
Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
Provide direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
Adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in CA.
Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws.
Confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and facility policies.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 lbs, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform CPR and other physically demanding tasks while maintaining good balance throughout a shift.
