We are looking for a
Network Specialist I - OSP Construction
to join our Network Services team in Great Falls, Montana. In this role you will coordinate, plan, and supervise outside plant field construction and splicing operations in multiple locations, while ensuring compliance with TDS Outside Plant (OSP) guidelines, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards and internal project management processes. Responsibilities
Coordinate OSP projects and supervise consultants, ensuring effective planning and execution of outside plant field construction and splicing operations. Provide technical support for special projects such as major road moves or on‑net builds; collaborate with Finance and Legal to manage accounting of facilities and asset transfer risk. Assist in the engineering phase when required, creating labor, material, and overhead project cost estimates. Audit OSP projects and coach consultants/contractors to maintain consistency and compliance with NESC and TDS OSP standards. Review all necessary reports from field personnel and contractor invoicing for accuracy; manage construction progress and documentation. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley guidelines and other departmental requirements; lead pre‑staking, pre‑bid, and pre‑construction meetings. Verify that all documentation (bid jobs, build orders, job start agreements, VMOPs, and close‑out documentation) is complete. Adapt quickly to changing GIS‑based construction tracking methods, construction techniques, and architecture types. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree (or higher) – or – 2+ years of professional work experience. 3+ years of experience in Voice, Data, or Video networking. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance. Other Qualifications
Fiber optic implementation experience. Excellent leadership, customer relations, and communication skills. Self‑directed and able to work independently. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, AGOL, spatial analysis or other GIS tools. Proficiency in digital workflows. Understanding of telecommunications industry principles. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Project management experience. Strong written and oral communication skills. PC database, spreadsheet, and word processing skills. Knowledge of NESC construction practices and engineering standards. Cooperative and courteous teamwork with diverse groups. Knowledge of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) design and construction techniques. Ability to read and understand FTTH construction prints. Benefits
