Summary Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I who will provide support to project leadership during the design phase. The role focuses on customer experience, financial performance, scheduling, estimating, design, and planning to ensure a smooth transition to construction operations.
Responsibilities
Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performance.
Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and associated communications and resources.
Create and manage project schedules and key milestones, holding team members accountable for reaching set milestones.
Assist in regulatory approval and permitting processes.
Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals.
Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
Identify technical design and specification concerns, escalating as needed to achieve resolution.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or an equivalent field.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills.

Pay Range The base pay range for this role is $84,100 - $113,500. The actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
