Job Summary The David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah seeks an organized, service-oriented, and collaborative
Academic and Student Experience Coordinator
to support the
Master of Healthcare Administration ( MHA )
program.
This role is central to creating an outstanding student experience—from admission through graduation—by providing proactive academic advising, program coordination, and community-building support. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-based environment, enjoys connecting with students and faculty, and takes pride in contributing to a mission-driven, nationally recognized healthcare management program.
This position combines student advising, operational administration, and event coordination to ensure the academic success and professional growth of each MHA student.
Responsibilities Academic Advising & Student Support
Advise students on degree requirements, course selection, and scheduling to promote timely graduation and academic success.
Monitor academic progress and proactively reach out to students who may need additional resources or support.
Communicate regularly with students regarding program updates, policies, deadlines, and opportunities.
Faculty & Course Support
Partner with faculty to coordinate course logistics and ensure alignment with program objectives.
Support instructional needs such as system setup, classroom materials, and administrative processes.
Manage faculty-related administrative items, including payment processing and material procurement.
Collaborate with the Associate Director to manage the UMentor Program, recruiting healthcare professionals and matching mentors with students.
Serve as the point of contact for mentors and mentees, ensuring positive engagement and effective communication.
Recruitment, Admissions & Onboarding
Support recruitment and admissions activities through outreach and personalized communication with prospective students.
Guide newly admitted students through onboarding, introducing them to MHA systems, resources, and expectations.
Ensure compliance with university enrollment requirements and maintain accurate records.
Program Operations & Data Management
Maintain confidential student records and databases with accuracy and integrity.
Track and analyze enrollment, retention, and performance metrics to inform program improvements.
Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and service quality.
Budget & Financial Coordination
Monitor program budgets, manage reimbursements, and support the fiscal administration of student-facing initiatives.
Event Planning & Engagement
Coordinate student and alumni events such as orientations, networking receptions, and graduation ceremonies.
Oversee logistics (scheduling, communications, catering, AV/IT, setup) to ensure professional, seamless experiences.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously:
Sitting, hearing, listening, and talking.
Often:
Repetitive hand motions (such as typing), walking, bending, reaching overhead, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, healthcare, business, or administration preferred).
2+ years of experience in higher education, student services, or program coordination.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Comfort with data systems and process improvement.
Familiarity with healthcare administration or prior experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.
A collaborative spirit, proactive mindset, and genuine interest in supporting student success.
