Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
2nd Shift
Finishing Production Technician
to support our composite manufacturing operations. This role focuses on post-molding finishing processes such as grinding, sanding, drilling, repairing, and preparing composite parts to meet strict quality and dimensional specifications.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience using power tools in a production environment and may come from
composites manufacturing, woodworking, carpentry, or an automotive body shop background , where precision finishing, surface preparation, and attention to detail are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Perform grinding, sanding, trimming, and finishing of composite parts to remove excess material and prepare surfaces for downstream processes.
Drill precise holes and features using manual or powered equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and work instructions.
Identify, assess, and repair surface defects and imperfections.
Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and quality standards.
Measure, inspect, and verify parts using hand tools, air tools, tape measures, and other inspection equipment.
Support painting and surface preparation operations as needed.
Ensure all work meets internal quality requirements and customer specifications.
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, repairs completed, and materials used.
Follow all safety procedures and properly wear required PPE when handling composite materials.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards; report equipment malfunctions or hazards promptly.
Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to meet production schedules and continuously improve finishing processes.
Qualifications
Proficiency with grinding, sanding, drilling, and finishing equipment.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
Experience using tools such as angle grinders, sanders, drills, and air tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions.
Commitment to workplace safety and standard operating procedures.
Preferred Experience & Background
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; trade school or technical training is a plus.
Previous experience in composites manufacturing, production finishing, or a related industry preferred.
Experience in woodworking, carpentry, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, or an automotive body shop—including sanding, surface prep, repair, or painting—is highly valued and directly applicable to this role.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with exposure to airborne particles, dust, resins, and moderate noise levels.
Frequent use of PPE including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and handling materials for extended periods.
Occasional lifting and/or moving of materials up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
