Introductory Employment Period Your employment begins with a 90‑day introductory period to assess fit and performance.

Role During the intro, your supervisor will evaluate meeting expectations such as attendance, quality of work, deadlines, and adherence to policies and the bp Code of Conduct.

About The Role The Operations Technician is responsible for safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas to RNG processing facility, with 25–50% travel per month (50% first year at a new plant, then 25%).

Key Accountabilities

Manage safe plant operation during shifts while maintaining compliance with SOPs and safety standards.

Inspect plant equipment, record operational data, and make corrective adjustments.

Review daily operating reports and ensure proper operating characteristics.

Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment.

Detect and correct faulty mechanical/electrical components.

Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.

Diagnose malfunctions during emergencies and direct restoration or shutdown.

Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits.

Repair electrical system wiring up to 480 V and modify equipment as needed.

Notify Lead Operation Technician and Regional Manager of shutdowns or major power changes.

Maintain equipment and structures per manufacturer and Archaea guidelines.

Maintain a clean workspace across facility areas.

Write routine reports and correspondence.

Maintain daily operation logs for the shift.

Assist in planning maintenance and outage activities.

Assist in ordering and procuring parts.

Respond promptly to callouts and work overtime as required.

Perform analytical tests (pH, conductivity, methane, H₂S, moisture).

Implement safety procedures including lockout/tagout.

Handle hazardous waste per training, including labeling and documentation.

Essential Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Essential Experience

Intermediate electrical, chemical, and mechanical experience.

1–3 years of landfill gas processing or equivalent industrial operations experience.

Understanding of process control systems in landfill gas collection and processing.

Technical/troubleshooting skills with manuals and schematics.

Experience with sensors, transducers, and calibration.

Basic knowledge of gas chemistry, piping, and instrumentation drawings.

Ability to read blueprints with minimal supervision.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, email, and monitoring equipment.

Valid driver’s license; pass background, physical, hearing, and DOT drug test.

Desirable Criteria

3+ years in landfill gas processing or power plant operations.

Technical certification or training.
