Job Summary
TheWorkforce Success Coach is responsible for working with current and prospectivestudents as they seek academiccourses or programming relevant to current or future employment. The position serves as a liaison between the universityand workforce students by supplying support services and offering continuededucational opportunities. Major Duties
Assists in the recruitment of new students through oral presentations, college and career fairs, written and electronic communications, and individual contacts with prospective students and employer partners. Answers inquiries about workforce educational options. Support enrollment, student development, and retention services through coaching students on the enrollment process, registration deadlines, library resources, financial aid, tutoring, graduation requirements, career services, and any other student-related resource available to students. Coach workforce students through their intended academic pathway. Encourage and support students as they work to develop skills and knowledge for academic success. Successful completion of the students’ and/or employers’ academic/upskilling goals. Offer resources to help maximize the success of each student. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members. Responsible for websitedevelopment and content management. Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge Required by the Position
Knowledge of higher education recruitment best practices. Knowledge of university admission processes and educational options related to workforce development. Skill in operation of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication. Able to maintain regular attendance. Supervisory Controls
The supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. Thesupervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of final results. Guidelines
Guidelines include Family Educational Rights and PrivacyAct requirements and university policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application. Complexity/Scope of Work
The work consists of varied student recruitment and retention duties. The high volume of student and general public contacts contributes to the complexity of this position. The purpose of this position is to recruit and retain students for NSU. Success in this contributes to the successful recruitment and retention of students into workforce development programs. Contacts
Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, parents, employers, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons. Physical Demands / Work Environment
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently mobile to include sitting, standing, reaching, bending, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects (minimum of 10 pounds). Fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions. The work environment will be in an office with some light travel to offsite locations. Supervisory and Management Responsibility
None. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle operated. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Salary and Application Dates
