PS Nurse Practitioner Job Summary The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work on our Transplant team. In this position, the individual will be involved with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners/physician assistants, nurses and other staff to coordinate the care of pre and post‑transplant patients, primarily in the outpatient setting. The candidate will be an active member of the lung transplant team and be responsible for assessing candidates for lung transplantation and for caring for patients who have had a lung transplant. The candidate will be expected to be an active participant in the lung transplant selection committee. Responsibilities

Incumbent assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.

Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on the patient’s condition.

Consults with physicians regarding patient health‑care plans and treatment.

Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health‑care needs.

Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.

Complies with medical‑records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care.

Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.

Participates in quality‑improvement activities.

Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.

Evaluates, plans, implements, and re‑evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.

Required Qualifications

Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Licensure obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent (the only equivalent to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification that requires successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.

Utah State prescriptive privileges.

Must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

This position is patient‑sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements for patient‑sensitive employees, including immunization according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Applicants must undergo credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by the department or by privileging criteria.

Prior experience working as a Nurse Practitioner with primary medical emphases of lung transplantation and pulmonary medicine.
