Job Summary This position is a leader for the University of West Georgia within the Division of Student Affairs and is located in University Recreation as a full-time, 12-month position with benefits. The Esports Coach directly reports to the Executive Director of the University Recreation and Campus Center and will supervise one graduate assistant and student staff members. The Esports Coach will be responsible for developing and managing the Esports at the University of West Georgia, including training and supervising student staff to assist with managing these experiences. In addition, this individual will assist with overseeing the Game Room in the Campus Center and organizing creative, innovative opportunities to engage students and external clients.
Responsibilities
Effectively manage the Esports programs and all Esports teams. Collaborate with on and off-campus partners to increase awareness of these venues and offerings and actively engage UWG students, faculty, staff, and community. Collaborate with Student Affairs and University Communications and Marketing teams on PR efforts related to Esports' team activities, recruitment, and programs. Facilitate and assist with generating revenue and fundraising/sponsorship efforts.
Coach the University of West Georgia Esports student athletes to prepare them for competitions and tournaments at a collegiate level. Coordinate and supervise practice schedules. Evaluate the performance of assistant coaches, team captains, and/or ambassadors. Review and analyze films to utilize in instruction and preparation of teams. Monitor academic performance for all Esports student athletes. Develop campus awareness to promote the success of the program and ensure that program and recruiting activities adhere to USG, University, and National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Policies and Procedures. Travel with Esports teams for all competitions. Acquire and disseminate new knowledge about the rapidly growing field of Esports and knowledge related to game mechanics in Esports. Travel to scout/recruit players. Ensure that program and recruiting activities adhere to University and NACE Policies and Procedures. Manage tryouts and develop a retention program for student athletes.
Train, develop, and supervise student and graduate assistants supporting the esports space. Evaluate the performance of support student staff and provide regular feedback to foster personal growth and development. Establish work schedules for student assistants supporting Esports. Review and approve students' timecards.
Manage esports facilities and equipment to ensure the maintenance of hardware and software components is on a routine maintenance schedule as needed. Identify resources and procure funding to elevate facilities.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Bachelors Degree
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree with prior Esports coaching and gaming experience. Knowledge of local, state, and national Esports professional organizations (e.g., the National Association of Collegiate Esports and the Georgia Game Developers Association). Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit, attract, and retain students.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree
Preferred Experience:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Social Science, Business, or related field preferred. Intermediate level or higher proficiency in Excel (pivot tables and graphs) and understanding of basic statistics preferred. Knowledge and experience supervising students. Gaming experience and/or proficiency with League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Marvel Rivals, and Valorant. Familiarity with fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement, in addition to previous budgetary management experience, is preferred. Ability to cast a vision to develop and grow the program. Experience with network/IT setups in relation to Esports gaming, and development of social media platforms for streaming video game feeds for public consumption.
Proposed Salary:
$53,000.00 - $58,000.00 Annually. Paid on a Monthly Basis.
