Floating School Nurse - RN (SY 2025-2026) Join us as a Floating School Nurse at Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS). The role involves providing comprehensive nursing services across multiple campuses in Lawrence, MA, supporting 1,200 students G‑K‑8 through health care and student wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide healthcare and first aid to students and staff on school grounds and during school‑related events.

Promote safety practices within school buildings and on school grounds.

Respond to urgent and routine health issues, including counseling and crisis intervention.

Tailor nursing actions to student needs, coordinating with other providers and staff to improve health and educational status.

Administer daily prescribed medications or medical interventions.

Provide social‑emotional support to students as needed.

Address child neglect or abuse issues per Massachusetts statute.

Arrange and conduct mandated student health screenings.

Maintain daily records of students seen in the health room and overall health records.

Order office supplies in partnership with Operations Managers and oversee maintenance of medical equipment.

Maintain first‑aid backpacks in classrooms.

Respond to medical emergencies promptly and effectively.

Collaboration

Develop and implement individualized health care plans with parents, guardians, teachers, and staff.

Maintain ongoing communication with teachers, leadership, and families.

Collaborate in assessing and improving the social and emotional climate of students and faculty.

Provide annual training on allergic reactions, asthma, epinephrine administration, and student allergies.

Attend after‑school family events and IEP/504 meetings as needed.

Support other school network nurses and ensure an emergency plan is communicated to all.

Implement state‑mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screenings.

Communicate disease prevention and infection control guidelines.

Act as a resource in health education for staff, students, and families.

Professional Practice

Attend all medical trainings and professional development meetings.

Maintain current knowledge in school nursing, community health, communicable disease control, development, health assessment and counseling, injury prevention, and adolescent issues.

Maintain certifications in CPR and nursing license.

Obtain expert consultation and peer review when needed.

Collaborate with local nursing schools to provide educational resources.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Passionate belief in CDCPS mission and values.

Current license to practice as Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LPN).

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Nursing preferred; Associate’s degree required.

Preferred experience working with school‑aged children and health‑records administration.
