SUMMARY Teaches physical education activities to students in the District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans delivery of physical education curriculum to promote development of student’s physical attributes.
Teaches district approved curriculum.
Plans, implements, reviews, and modifies curriculum to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, work time, and assessment.
Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops and implements individual education plans and 504 plans.
Confers with students, parents, and other staff to resolve student problems.
Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education program. Also responsible for putting equipment away, and facility security.
Provides qualitative and quantitative feedback to students, participates in parent/teacher conferences and open houses.
Attends staff and department meetings.
Continues professional growth.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises all students in class and in locker room area.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in physical education.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Communication And Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, or administrators.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Analytical And Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in diagrammatic form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills And Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program, ability to plan and implement lesson plans based on district and building goals and the needs and abilities of the students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, administrators, and community.
Temperaments:
Ability to direct others, work with people, and influence people in their opinions, attitudes, and judgments.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, close vision and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate to loud.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Must possess and maintain or be eligible to hold a current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license in physical education, code 530.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Shall complete a physical examination as required by Wisconsin Statute 118.25.
