Senior Model Maker

Job Overview The Model Maker will work within the Engineering Lab team that is part of the Unitary Products Group (UPG) for Bosch Home Comfort Group. In this division we design, test, manufacture, and assemble HVAC equipment for the light commercial and residential markets. This position will be located in the Norman, OK Engineering Lab and will report to the Model Shop Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Develop working prototypes for industry and agency compliance testing.
Plan and schedule build projects; scope a build from build books/engineer instructions.
Read and interpret test standards and develop SOPs / work instructions.
Follow established safety procedures, conduct audits, and maintain a clean work area.
Act as a technical leader for prototype build team and mentor new model makers on technical operations such as brazing, pressure testing, and unit modification.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in HVAC.
Demonstrated working knowledge and skills in reading wiring diagrams, modifying unit wiring and controls, instrumentation, and electro‑mechanical troubleshooting.
Understanding of HVAC operations (heat exchanger, blower, compressor, condenser, motors, evaporator, BTU, etc.).
Ability to lift equipment, compressors, units, motors, sheet metal parts, etc.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Self‑starter with strong interpersonal skills and experience with data‑based decision making.
Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a laboratory environment.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations – percentages, fractions, averages, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent.
