POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW – CENTER FOR DISCOVERY & INNOVATION (CDI) Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Center for Discovery & Innovation (CDI) at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, part of Hackensack Meridian Health.

Overview The fellow will conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Yi Zhang focused on T cell biology, cancer immunotherapy, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Projects include epigenetic regulation of T cell immunity using preclinical models of CAR‑T cell therapy. Knowledge or experience in immune phenotyping, immune function, and RNA‑based analyses is desirable.

The Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise, dedicated to rapidly translating science innovation to the clinic to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious and autoimmune diseases, and other acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and laboratory experiments under direct supervision.

Collect, analyze, and interpret data.

Prepare reports from initial observations and conclusions.

Present findings to senior staff and at scientific conferences, lab meetings, and institutional seminars.

Triage moderate‑complex issues, referring more complex problems to senior staff.

Participate in grant and manuscript writing as appropriate.

Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications – Essential

Ph.D. in a scientific discipline.

Minimum of two first‑author articles published in a reputable peer‑reviewed scientific journal.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem‑solving skills.

Independent research capability.

Team‑working ability.

Technical laboratory skills such as RT‑PCR, RNA/DNA extraction, staining, sample preparation, sectioning, and related techniques.

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a BSL‑2/BSL‑3 laboratory facility.

Compensation Minimum annual base salary: $61,008.48. Compensation is benchmarked against market data and may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Full‑time benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
