PRN Advanced Practice Professional – Hospitalist – Grant Memorial Hospital
The West Virginia University Health System (WVUHS) is hiring a qualified Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to provide comprehensive inpatient hospitalist care at Grant Memorial Hospital. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or as a Physician Assistant (PA) in West Virginia. Coordinate and deliver multidisciplinary inpatient hospitalist care for hospitalized patients. Complete daily rounds, consults, and pre-procedure evaluations. Develop comprehensive individualized plans of care, including teach, discharge planning, and referral to other health care team members. Recognize and respond to emergency situations and initiate effective emergency care. Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests and laboratory evaluations in accordance with established clinical guidelines and scope of practice. Collaborate with hospitalist faculty, nursing staff, and other clinicians to foster a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety. Serve as a resource and educator for clinical staff regarding evidence-based practice and clinical protocols. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and comply with WVUHS and state regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications
For Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with a Master’s Degree in Nursing. National APRN Certification from a recognized certification center. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and APRN in West Virginia. BLS certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training preferred. For Physician Assistant (PA) Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant training from an ARC-PA approved program. Certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the West Virginia Board of Medicine or West Virginia Board of Osteopathic Medicine. BLS certification required; ACLS training preferred. Preferred Qualifications
ACNP or AGACNP for APRN applicants; FNPs will be considered. Master’s level education as a Medical/Surgical PA preferred. Physical Requirements
Heavy/Hard Work: Lift, move, stoop, reach, and position patients and equipment weighing 40+ pounds. Working Environment
Work closely with others; irregular hours; exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases; work around deceased; work with hands in water; exposure to electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment. Compensation and Benefits
