Position Summary Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media, performs diagnostic studies per physician orders, and ensures accurate imaging results.
Essential Functions
Review patient history and physician's orders
Educate patients regarding procedures and equipment
Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
Monitor patient condition continually and respond to changes
Prepare equipment and supplies
Implement safety standards and perform quality control; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
Position patient and perform imaging procedures
Analyze results, identify quality issues, and take corrective action
Enter, transmit, and report scan results
Avail for on‑call assignments and report to the facility within 30 minutes of notification
Required Skills
Critical thinking and decisive judgment
Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment
Education / Certification
Two‑year certificate, associate degree, and/or Bachelor’s degree
Graduate of a program in Nuclear Medicine (Bachelor’s preferred)
Current Radiation Operator Certificate in current state; registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
